"Peace is a consciousness of springs too deep for earthly droughts to dry up. Peace is the gift not of volitional struggle but of spiritual hospitality."
Peace is a good to be promoted with good: it is good for individuals, families, nations of the earth and for all humanity; but it is a good that is to safeguard and promote through initiatives and good works. Thus we understand the great truth of another saying of Saint Paul: "Repay no one evil for evil" (Rom 12:17). The only way out of the vicious circle of evil for evil is to accept the Apostle's exhortation: "Do not be overcome by evil; but overcome evil with good "(Rom 12:21).
